Alliance combines leading Japanese and European USV expertise to expand Japan's marine survey market and accelerate digitalization and decarbonization

TOKYO,JAPAN _ Kiso-jiban Consultants Co., Ltd. (President: Hideo Nomura), Seisgadget Ltd. (Managing Director: Yoshitaka Ueda), and XOCEAN (CEO: James Ives), a global leader in uncrewed ocean surveying, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to establish a strategic alliance aimed at expanding the use of uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) in Japan's marine survey market.

The alliance will combine the three companies' complementary capabilities in geotechnical consulting, marine geophysical surveying, robotics, autonomous systems, and large-scale USV operations. Together, they aim to respond more rapidly and flexibly to major offshore projects while delivering high-quality ocean data safely, efficiently, and with a lower environmental footprint.

The collaboration is expected to accelerate the digital transformation and decarbonization of Japan's marine industries. Two XOCEAN XO-450 USVs have already been deployed in Japan and commenced full-scale operations.

The XO-450 is an uncrewed surface vessel designed for extended autonomous operations in demanding offshore environments and high-precision seabed surveys. Compact and lightweight, yet highly seaworthy, it can collect marine data at a quality comparable to, or exceeding, that of conventional large survey vessels while improving safety, environmental performance, and cost efficiency.
