The Esplanade is comprised of unique bug-eyed buildings with basement supported by bored piles in the south and a basement car park in the north under Nicoll Highway. Kiso-Jiban provided services of geotechnical design of car park in which 12m deep excavation was supported by diaphragm walls with top-down construction method and partial soil improvement to strengthen thick two layers of marine clay. Foundation piles were also designed by Kiso-Jiban for both main buildings and car parks. Kiso-Jiban also provided soil investigation and geotechnical instrumentation for the both phases.
