The bridge is comprised of 24 piers and 2 abutments in which 4 piers and 1 abutment belongs to Singapore and the others in Malaysia. Prior to the bridge construction, reclamation was conducted with sand compaction piles and PVD with preloading to strengthen and speed up the consolidation settlement of marine clay for the bridge abutment and custom offices in Singapore. Kiso-Jiban conducted geotechnical analysis, soil investigation and geotechnical instrumentation for the reclamation. Piers and abutment were supported by large diameter piles installed into limestone with cavity. Kiso-Jiban carried out the foundation design and made specification of pile foundation how to take care cavity in the limestone in the construction.
