Jimah Power Station

Jimah 2x700MW Coal-Fired Power Plant generated electricity power is connected to Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) Malaysia's Grid System. The power plant is constructed on reclaimed land over a site area totaling 54 hectares. The ground consists of greater than 10m of very soft to soft clay layer overlying a combination of cohesive and cohesionless soil layers. The hard stratum on site is located about -40 to -50m MLSD. Kiso-Jiban provided geotechnical services by implementing detailed soil investigation and interpreting the ground conditions. We also initiated the design of soil improvement works using prefabricated vertical drains and surcharging. Kiso-Jiban also addressed the stability of reclamation with detailed analyses of theoretical and monitored consolidation settlement for construction and staged filling control. Our involvement in this project also included the geotechnical analysis of temporary retaining structures during excavation and stability study of a 300m long water intake channel.
